Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga series, Kaiju no 8, won over many new fans as one of the big anime releases in Spring 2024. Adapted by the Production I.G studio, the anime spanned 12 episodes and aired from April 13, 2024, to June 29, 2024.

These episodes established the world of Kaiju no 8, where humanity constantly faces the threat of monstrous creatures known as Kaiju. With the season 1 finale leaving fans eager for more, Production I.G has already announced a sequel is in the works.

The first season of Kaiju no 8 adapted chapters 1 to 38 of the manga, with chapter 38 serving as the endpoint for the anime.

The Kaiju no 8 anime concluded with the Defense Force’s Director General, Isao Shinomiya, deciding that Kafka Hibino would not be terminated and turned into a weapon. Instead, Hibino will remain part of the Defense Force but must prove his worth going forward.

The announcement of the Kaiju no 8 sequel on June 30, 2024, hinted that the anime’s next focus would be on the Defense Force’s First Division.

In episode 11, Third Division Captain Mina Ashiro announced significant changes to her squad, especially pertaining to new officers Reno Ichikawa, Aoi Kaguragi, Iharu Furuhashi, and Haruichi Izumo. The news came after the Third Division’s headquarters was nearly destroyed after the raid at Tachikawa base.

Meanwhile, the Defense Force’s top brass, including Isao Shinomiya, will closely monitor Hibino. Additionally, Kaiju No. 9, now fully recovered, remains hidden in the shadows, plotting humanity’s downfall.
