Chaos erupted in episode 9, Raid on Tachikawa Base, as the Third Division faced a surprise attack. Multiple wyvern-type Kaiju descended upon their base, catching the Defense Force unprepared.
With captain Mina Ashiro absent, the responsibility of leading the defense fell onto vice-captain Hoshina’s shoulders. Newly promoted officer Kafka Hibino, however, made a crucial observation — these wyverns, known for acting independently, seemed to be working together. This revelation hinted at a more powerful entity orchestrating the entire attack.
Hibino’s suspicions were confirmed when Kaiju no 10 entered the battle, demanding a fight with the base’s strongest member. Hoshina stepped forward, engaging in a brutal confrontation with the monstrous leader.
While Hoshina dueled Kaiju no 10, Hibino identified a weakness in the wyvern Kaiju’s tough exterior. Unfortunately, the Defense Force struggled to exploit this weakness because of the monsters’ coordinated movements.
The tide began to turn with the arrival of Kikoru Shinomiya. Equipped with a new, giant battle axe provided by the Defense Force, Kikoru cleaved through the wyverns’ defenses. Her comrades followed suit, using specialized frost bullets to weaken the remaining Kaiju.
Off-duty officers joined the fight, and Hoshina appeared to be gaining the upper hand against Kaiju no 10. However, a shocking twist awaited them. Kaiju no 10 unveiled his true monstrous form, towering over Hoshina and unleashing a power surge that elevated his fortitude level to a staggering 9.0.
