Swift Slash nerfed

On the PvP side of things, only one player ability has been adjusted for v1.12.3 and that’s Swift Slash.

Swift Slash is a new Ash of War you can use with the Backhand Blades in Shadow of the Erdtree. The ability is a quick forward double-slash that lets you blink before unleashing a wide Malenia-like “shearing vacuum effect”.

Knowing how hard players have been spamming Swift Strike in the Colosseum, the devs decided to lower its damage and shorten its damage animation, making the Backhand Blade ability easier to evade.

Elden Ring 1.12.3 — general balance changes

These changes affect gameplay across the board, applying to the Lands Between and PvP.

The main change this time involves boss positions in your rematch against the Golden Hippopotamus and General Gaius. From now on, both bosses will be located in the “same position” as before, making their encounters less confusing.

Here’s everything they changed about the items/weapons in Elden Ring 1.12.3:

Elden Ring 1.12.3 — performance fixes

While Elden Ring’s DLC faced universal acclaim, some critics lowered their scores due to the expansion’s less-than-stellar performance on PC and PS5. Causes were unknown so far. With that in mind, here’s everything FROMSOFT has found so far:

  • Unstable framerate on the PS5 can now be solved using the console’s “Rebuild Database” safe mode feature.
  • New Regulation files are available for the console version to ensure smoother play.
  • As said in our previous patch article, Ray Tracing that’s left on causes performance issues on the PC version. Go to System > Graphics Settings to make sure it isn’t turned on.
  • Third-party mouse programs were found to cause framerate issues on the PC version.
