Among the new weapons introduced in The Final Shape expansion is Ergo Sum, an exotic Energy sword that drops with random intrinsics/traits, and uses “Special” ammo to deal elemental damage.

Follow our Ergo Sum god roll guide for instructions on how to get the Ergo Sum and its best PvE/PvP weapon builds in Destiny 2.

How to get the Ergo Sum in Destiny 2

To get the Ergo Sum, beat The Final Shape campaign and start a questline with Ghost. Here’s how:

  1. Finish The Final Shape campaign (Normal/Legendary).
  2. Talk to Ghost.
  3. Accept the “Destined Heroes” exotic quest.
  4. Finish the “Queens, Part 1” subquest.
  5. Head to the Old Tower and go to the war table room.
  6. Interact with Micah’s Conduit to start the “Convalescence” questline.

  1. Speak to Cayde-6 in the Lost City to accept the “Wild Card” Exotic quest.
  2. Return to Ghost and start the “Found in the Dark” and “Lost in the Light” Transcendence quests.
  3. After completing both quests, head back to the Lost City and start the “Destined Heroes” exotic quest (appears as “Queens, Part II” once accepted).
  4. Talk to Ghost to turn in the quest for a “Dyadic Prism”
  5.  Open the Quest Menu to launch the last part of Destined Heroes.
  6. Interact with the statue to receive the Ergo Sum.

Getting Ergo Sum in the quest line lets you grind for new rolls. To do this, head to The Pale Heart’s Pathfinder and collect the Ergo Sum rewards. You can do this twice a week.

Ergo Sum brings a lot to the table in PvP.  So the god roll is focusing on damage, agility, buffs, and uptime on Transcendence.

Grinding for this set of intrinsics is well worth it due to Gathering Light’s buff alone. Pair this up with Burst Guard to give you more resistance out in the field, and more ability energy when you need it.

Tempered Edge makes your swings more lethal during Wave Sword Frame.

Getting more final blows with Ergo Sum this way lets you continuously proc Gathering Light and Transcendent Duelist, increasing the uptime of your Transcendence.

PvE melee builds prioritize speed and single-target damage. The Perfect Fifth is a fantastic intrinsic for building up your Light energy (virtually for free) while dealing impressive damage on enemies weak to Solar.

Similarly to PvP, we’re pairing Wave Sword Frame with Transcendent Duelist. But this time, we’re rolling with the Swordmaster’s Guard for more Heavy Attacks.
