It’s inevitable.

Since the game existed, League of Legends players have this innate, insatiable desire to play each new champion in all the roles except the one that Riot Games intended.

Aurora is a mid-range skrimisher mage meant for the mid lane but Aurora jungle might be possible because she has an invisibility ability combined with a large AOE ultimate — tools that could set up for good ganks.

And of course, being a mage, bottom lane players will inevitably try out Aurora support paired with an AD carry, or take the farm in a Senna duo.

We can already imagine T1 support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok playing her on stream. He did, after all, pioneer Zoe support.

ONE Esports got to play test Aurora before she hit PBE and live servers in an exclusive media press conference where Riot Games shared their thoughts on her potential other roles on Summoner’s Rift.

You have to admit, Aurora jungle and Aurora support are both very tempting

League of Legends Lead Gameplay Designer Matt “Riot Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison compared her situation with Skarner top.

“I think ideally we want to support her in the solo lanes, but we’re open to whatever roles players try to play in, as long as one we feel like it’s not detracting from the primary experience we’re trying to deliver,” Riot Phroxzon told the press.

“So if we felt like we needed to make concessions to the solo lane experience to support jungle, then that’s where we might raise some flags,” he continued. “Is it worth it to support this playstyle? And two, is the gameplay itself healthy and fun?”

For example, if her primary function in the jungle solely centered on trapping enemies using her ultimate without outside uses, the League of Legends dev team would consider that “not great gameplay.”

Riot Phroxzon reiterated that she isn’t intended to be a jungler and doesn’t have much utility for ganking, which means that many other junglers can take advantage of her in the early game.

We got the chance to ask Ray Williams, QA Engineer, separately about Aurora support where there’s a possibility she maxes E for the slow, or roams with W, Across the Veil, to secure kills each time her ultimate is up.

“One of the intended weaknesses of Aurora is the low amount of crowd control in her kit, which may make lower-economy roles like support less viable,” Ray told ONE Esports.

Time to get cooking.
